Witch Themed Halloween Party (Part2)

This is the 3rd time I've thrown  a halloween party for my 7 nieces. Four of them are my siblings' daughters while the other 3 are my cousin's daughters. My other nieces and nephews live far away so  my 7 nieces are the only ones who can attend the party. We usually celebrate halloween party every 3rd sunday of October. We do it in advance because they go trick or treating on the 31st at the mall and on the night of October 31, they give away candies to kids who are trick or treating. I always provide the costumes they wear. All they have to do is  go to the party and enjoy. I purchased 2 of the witch costumes, two have been used in their previous halloween party and the rest including the 2 orange wigs were given to me by friends. I've already thought of a theme for next year's halloween party and it will surely be so much fun, scary, hair raising and spine chilling!

Witch Themed Halloween Party (Part 1)

I have so much photos to share so I decided to divide this halloween post into 2 parts. These are the halloween party food I prepared for my 7 nieces last sunday. I made the witch's finger cookies, witch marshmallow pops and cauldron donut holes the night before the party and the rest I prepared on the day of the party itself. If last  year we had Ghost and Pumpkin themed halloween party, this year is witch themed halloween party!

Whoopie Pie Spiders- Lemon square munch mallows + pocky sticks

Witch Marshmallow Pops- green marshmallows, fondant for the hair, chocolate cookies + hershey's kisses for the hat

 Witch's Finger Cookies

Caramel Apple Bites

Witch Cauldron Donut Holes- Donut holes ( Dunkin donut's choco honey dipped munchkins dipped in chocolate)+ Nerds (watermelon flavor), witch clipart

Monster's Intestines - Baked Bacon Skewers

Halloween Fruit cups

Halloween cake push-up pops

Spider Pizza- Spider is made of  marshmallow fondant and I used cream cheese for the spider web.

Aglio Olio with severed finger hotdogs

Sand Witches- Chicken apple salad sandwiches. I saw these witches stuck upside down in sandwiches and thought they were cute! I made mine peeking! Inspired by Lisa Storms' Sand Witches

Veggie Chips

Witch's Brew- I purchased this Fifth Avenue beverage dispenser 3 months ago and  found out later that the silver colored glass base is not fused to the glass body. It was poorly attached using a cheap adhesive and it was broken apart.  My cousin just secured it using silicone and mighty bond. It was too late to return it back! To prevent accident, I just used it for decoration purpose only.

Halloween Brownie Mix Cookies

These are super easy homemade cookies that you can make in a snap!  You can add nuts or chocolate chips to make the cookies more special. But since it is halloween month, I used halloween sprinkles to decorate the cookies. The cookies were delicious, soft and chewy. I just used a convection toaster oven in baking them.

Brownie Mix Cookies
1 box Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies (or any brownie mix you prefer)
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup vegetable oil or canola oil
2 eggs
sprinkles

Preheat oven to 200˚C. In a medium bowl, combine brownie mix, flour, oil and eggs and blend thoroughly.  Drop by rounded tablespoonful onto ungreased cookie sheets.  Top with sprinkles then bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cookies are just set. Transfer cookies to a rack to cool.

Epic fail! Because I used a small baking pan, the  first batch of cookies spread while baking and fused together. I just used a cookie cutter to remedy the situation.

They came out nicely!

Next time I will use an ice cream scoop for a uniformly sized cookies.

Trick or treat?

Happy Halloween!

Bato Springs Resort, San Pablo Laguna

The resort is huge but needs improvement in some areas specially the restrooms. Some of the sinks and  toilet bowls are clogged. There were numerous annoying flies buzzing around our food. They should use a pesticide or natural repellent  to terminate those pests and prevent them from coming back. Despite my negative comments, we enjoyed our stay because we got to celebrate my niece's 3rd birthday. It was almost 9AM when we got to the resort. Day trip is from 8AM-4PM only.

Entrance Fee (Adults and Kids)
Weekends/Holidays - P80/pax
Weekdays - P70/pax
Overnight - P125/pax

Diuata Picnic hut- We availed this hut  which features a  double deck and a picnic table for P1,200.

with the celebrant

The birthday celebrant. My cousin smeared icing on her face which made her cry!

Gabbie wearing her mermaid costume which was given to her as a gift. She adores Aryana (Philippine fantasy drama TV series) the girl who was cursed to turn into a  mermaid when she turns 14.

Man made spring and waterfalls

  Posing with the little mermaid

The water was freakin' cold! We didn't let the kids wear their swimsuits.

No one can  ever stop the kids from swimming no matter how cold the water was! Ayaw nila umahon!

 Swimming pool

The swimming pool also features a man made waterfalls.

 Kiddie pool

 Playing monkey!

Nieces reheating spaghetti sauce and milkfish relleno. I made a refreshing zesty lemonade with lime slices and prepared the sandwiches.

We brought our own grill knowing the grill at the resort would be rusty. We also had pork BBQ, grilled pork belly, buttered shrimps, ham-spam sandwiches and chicharon.

My sister made this heavenly mango pandan salad for dessert.
