Chocolate Covered Frozen Banana Bites

I made these chocolicious tasty snack for my nieces and they all went nuts over it! They were gone in a jiffy! The kids love to go swimming. We are scheduled to go swimming in the coming months but for the time being, they enjoy swimming in the inflatable pool. It's a great way to cool off this summer. The water gets dirty in just 2 days so we have to replace it after 2 uses. Imagine how much will our next water bill be! Anyway, here's the recipe for the chocolate covered frozen banana bites.

Ingredients:

bananas cut into 1 inch thick
melted chocolate chips ( I used the microwave in melting them.)
crushed nuts, marshmallows, sprinkles
toothpicks

Procedure:

Stick the toothpick into each banana and freeze for 1 hour.
Dip each piece of banana in melted chocolate.
Roll in marshmallows, crushed nuts or sprinkles.
Put back in the fridge and freeze for 1 hour
Let rest at room temperature for at least 10-20 mins before serving
Enjoy!

Add a bit of canola oil if the melted chocolate is quite thick.

Snack attack!

The 3rd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition

Last Saturday we were able to witness the last presentation of the 3rd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition held at the Seaside Blvd, SM Mall of Asia. It was held every Saturday from Feb. 11- March 17, 2012. We decided to watch on the last day where Italy and Philippines showcased their brilliant fireworks exhibition. I purchased 4 Gold tickets from Ensogo for half the price but upgraded to VIP coz they were offering tickets for buy one take one since it was already the last day of the event.
Eleven countries competed for the coveted top prize including South Korea, Malta, United Kingdom, Spain, Finland, Portugal, China, Netherlands, Australia, Canada, and Italy. Philippines was not included in the competion being the host of the event but also showcased a spectacular display of fireworks courtesy of Platinum Fireworks Inc. Philippines' exhibition was cut off due to some technical difficulties. We saw a small fire in the barge and it took them a while to continue for the finale. Despite some technical problems, I was still amazed at Philippines's firework exhibition! I specially loved it when they started launching firework shells into the water and all we can see were floating mini fountains of light that looked like they emerged from the water and suddenly the air was filled with Whitney Houston's beautiful song "I Will Always Love You". I loved Philippines's choice of music to accompany the fireworks display. We truly enjoyed the colorful explosions of light that painted the sky that night!

Isdaan Floating Restaurant, Gerona Tarlac

After going to the 17th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Festival in Clark, we trooped to Isdaan Floating Restaurant for a hearty lunch. There was heavy traffic due to the road being reconstructed so it took us almost 2 hours of travel from Clark to Tarlac. We were all famished when we reached the restaurant. Children are required to wear life vests for safety reasons since the water is 6-9 ft deep. Once we were sitted, a staff gave the kids free fish food so they can feed the koi fishes. They also got free angry bird balloons. There is a wide variety of dishes to chose from (only filipino dishes) which are all reasonably priced. A group of singers went to our table to entertain us with their hip hop songs, one of it was Nicki Minaj's popular song Super Bass which I really really like that It makes me want to dance whenever I hear this. lol! Aside from loving the food I absolutely loved the ambience which was quite interesting and reminded me of Thailand with all these huge golden buddha statues around. A friend recommended to try visiting the other branch of Isdaan which is located in Calauan Laguna. She says the place is more huge and there's a lot more to see so expect another post about Isdaan floating restaurant in the near future.

huge fish statues will greet you at the entrance of the restaurant

Caracol Festival 2012

I was able to witness Makati City's annual Caracol Festival which was held on Feb. 26, 2012 at the corner of Ayala Avenue and Makati Avenue. The Caracol Festival aims to raise awareness on the preservation of cultural heritage and conservation of the environment and natural resources. Hundreds of students (elementary, high school and college levels) and residents of Makati City participated in this lively and colorful event. The students competed in a dance showdown after the fun filled parade. I only learned about the festival the day before the event itself. I was supposed to attend the festival with 2 companions but both could not make it so I went alone. I had so much fun photographing the participants who were all willing to smile and pose for the camera. Some would even request that I take photos of them. Such warm and happy people!
