Cranberry lemon slush

Treat yourself to a refreshing taste of this fruity luscious slush! You can prepare and freeze it ahead of time to drink on hot summer days. Just combine your favorite fruit juices and freeze for 24 hours.

I didn't like the taste of this lemonade so I just made one from scratch. I combined equal parts of cranberry and lemonade, then freeze until firm.


Scoop out the frozen mixture into a glass and pour chilled 7-up or sprite over. The 7-up will break big chunks as it melts. Serve immediately.

Hello Kitty Ice Pop Mold

Summer is almost here! This ebay bought ice pop mold can make 8 ice pops at once and has a drip guard on each handle. It arrived in the mail today. I'm planning to make some icy treats for the kiddos. I'm looking forward to making their favorite frozen treats.

Tutu cute

Isn't she cute in tutu? This is very easy to make! No need for a sewing machine to make one.
I've been meaning to make some tutus for Ykaie and my other nieces since last year. I finally bought different colors of tulles for 20 pesos/yard. I was able to use 2 yards for this tutu. Here's How I made it.


I chose lavender and lime green color combo for this one.


I measured Ykaie's waist then cut the elastic and hand sewn the ends to form a waistband. You can also use elastic headbands for this.


I measured how long I want the tutu and doubled it. You have to double the length measured because you are going to fold each strip into half when tying onto the waistband.


I folded the tulle in half, then folded in half again. I just kept folding. It's easier to cut strips this way. It's up to you how wide you want the strips to be.



I tied each strip onto the waistband using Cow hitch knot. Just check out the site for clear illustrations of tying a cow hitch knot. I just kept on tying all the way around.

Paella Negra

I cooked this dish last Sunday. Here's the recipe.



1 cup rice
1 cup glutinuos rice
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves of garlic, minced
clams
mussels
shrimps
squid rings
green peas
bell pepper, sliced
2 bouillon cubes
salt and pepper to taste
squid ink
4 cups of water
lemon wedges/slices

Procedure:

Wash the rice and set aside
Sautee garlic and onion. Cook until onion caramelizes.
Add the rice and pour in water
Add bouillon cubes and squid ink
Simmer for 10 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste
If it's getting too dry, add more water. Arrange seafood and veggies on top.
Cook until done.
garnish with lemon wedges/slices

Fire Eaters/ blowers/ dancers

I'd like to share some photos I took yesterday. It was our City's feast day in honor of San Roque or St. Roch, the patron Saint of dogs and dog lovers. There were fire eaters dancing to the beat of drums. They do this for a living.

Here's Ykaie eating her Valentine candy


Ykaie in her Valentine's day outfit! lol Sis and I went to Divisoria. I bought this set for 35 pesos. Lots of cheap but great finds! I think I was able to buy her 6 sets of clothings including 2 denim mini skirts with matching cute tops. (3 for 100) It's a good place to pick up some bargains. Do you ever go to Divisoria? I am not at all that brand conscious. I buy whatever looks good and as long as I feel comfortable wearing them.



Valentine's Day hairdo

Valentine Treat Bag Toppers

I designed some Valentine treat bag toppers in photoshop and printed them out. I got the V day bear cliparts here. Not high resolution images but they printed fine. I just sharpened the graphics a bit. The hello kitty topper is for my cousin's girlfriend. She's a hello kitty junkie. I cut the upper third of hello kitty for a pop up effect.

Ykaie's Valentine cookie jar

Valentine Sugar Cookies

Last Sunday I baked some Valentine sugar cookies. I enjoyed decorating them! Here's the recipe.

Ingredients

3 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
2 tsps vanilla
1 cup butter
food color and sprinkles for decorating

Glaze icing

2 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsps water or milk
1 tsp almond extract

Procedure:
Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Set aside
Soften butter at room temperature then combine with the sugar and beat together.

Beat in egg and vanilla.
Gradually add flour, baking powder and salt
Chill for 1-2 hours to firm up for easy handling.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4" thickness

Dip cookie cutter into flour before cutting out cookies
Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are just barely golden brown

separate into different bowls and add food coloring
Decorate cookies

New addition to the Family

Meet Cyvrine Noelle, the newest member of our family! She is the youngest daughter of my brother. They visited us yesterday. She is such a darling! I was not able to photograph her much because I was busy baking and decorating some Valentine cookies. My mom just told me they were already going home so I grabbed my camera and took a couple of snapshots. Here she is!

Stuffed bell peppers

Lunch today!

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo ground lean beef or pork
1 carrot, chopped
2 stalks of celery, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
paprika
1 potato, diced
1 onion, finely chopped
salt and pepper to taste
3 eggs
6 medium bell peppers


Sautee garlic and onion. Add beef and cook until brown.
Add the carrots, celery,potatoes, paprika, water,salt and pepper.
Simmer for 3-5 minutes
Set aside to cool
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Remove the tops and core of bell peppers.
Beat eggs and add to meat mixture
Stuff the bell peppers with the mixture.
Bake for 15-20 minutes
