Result of the Cosmo body 7 day challenge
I lost 8 lbs in 1 week. Not bad! I hope I won't put the weight back on just as fast If I start eating normally. I actually cheated on the 3rd and 7th day. hehehe! I thought I would survive day 3 because the meal plan consists of veggies and fruits. I was already craving for something sweet on the 2nd day. On the 3rd day, though I consumed some fruits, I was still craving for something sweeter. I was feeding my niece some chocolate coated pretzel sticks. I took a bite! LOL I ended up eating all of them. hehehe! I just bought my niece another box of pretzels. I will no longer elaborate what I ended up eating on the 7th day

Third day of the Cosmo body 7 day challenge
In day 3 you have to eat a mixture of vegetables and fruits. Avoid bananas and potatoes today. I bought a pack of mixed fruits in the grocery for 45 pesos (120 pesos /kilo). You can choose the fruits you want to include. Mine was an assortment of red and yellow watermelons, grapes, pear, pineapple, orange, melons and papayas. I didn't consume all the fruits I bought coz I was already full. I also had some mixed veggies today.

First day of the Cosmo body 7 day challenge
In day one, all fruits can be eaten except bananas. You must drink 10 glasses of water each day and try to avoid alcohol. I only ate melons today because they say chances of losing 3 lbs on first day is very good if you limit fruit consumption to melons. I consumed 1 1/2 of melons today. I feel 3 lbs lighter! lol!
Or am I just dreaming? hehehe!

Cosmo Body 7 day challenge
Tomorrow I will start the Cosmo body 7 day challenge. This is a weight loss diet program. They say you can lose 10-17 lbs in one week! Hmmmmm...I'll see if it's effective! I really need to lose the lbs I gained from eating lots of food during the holiday season. I'll go to the grocery this afternoon to purchase some fruits and veggies. Here's the link to the program: Cosmo body 7 day challenge
I hope I can stick with this diet! hehehe!

Sinigang na Hipon ( Shrimps in tamarind soup)
I cooked dinner tonight; shrimps and vegetables simmered in a tangy tamarind soup base. It's yummy! It can be eaten as is or with rice.

Ingredients:
1/2 kilo shrimps
1 radish, sliced
1 bundle kangkong (water spinach)
1 onion
5 tomatoes
10 pieces okras
2 packets tamarind soup base
chili or jalapeno pepper
5-6 cups water
fish sauce to taste
Bring water to boil. Add radish, tomato, and onion. Simmer for 2 minutes. Add shrimps, okras and jalapeno pepper Simmer for 5-8 minutes. Lastly, add the water spinach and tamarind soup base. Do not over cook the vegetables. Season with fish sauce. Serve hot.

My niece Ykaie
I love this photo of Ykaie that I took last month after her Auntie Arlene's wedding at the Greenery. She was one of the flower girls. Though she was a bit tired and sleepy from a long trip, she still managed to pose for me.

She wore the pretty gown again the next day for another photo shoot. Isn't she cute?

Fusilli with shrimp and mango
I made this pasta salad on New Years day. Here's the recipe:
400 grams pre boiled fusilli
4 cups mayonaise
2 large cucumbers, diced (peel and remove seeds)
3 stalks of celery, chopped
1/4 cup chopped carrots
shrimps
5 mangoes, diced
salt, pepper, sugar to taste
Preparation:
In a large bowl, combine first seven ingredients. Season with salt, pepper and sugar. Chill and serve. I find it more delicious if served on the day you made it. It becomes a little dry if served the next day.

Happy 2009!
Happy New year! I took this photo during our New Year's Eve celebration.

Writing with sparklers

These were the food we prepared for our New Year celebration. We had pork barbeque, roast chicken, steamed fish, mini pizza, fruit salad, fusilli with shrimp and mango, fried rice, stuffed shrimps, coconut lychee salad and custard balls.

Having some fun!

New Year's Eve
I bought some colorful party trumpets and sparklers for welcoming the New Year. Pop picollo is a kind of firecracker that produces a noise when you step on it or bang drop it. I didn't buy the ones that produce a very loud bang and can cause injuries in children. The trumpets are enough to make noise in welcoming year 2009.

Making patterns with sparklers

We had finger foods for our New Year's Eve late dinner. I baked some bacon wrapped asparagus and tomato and made some canapes.
