Tutu cute

Isn't she cute in tutu? This is very easy to make! No need for a sewing machine to make one.
I've been meaning to make some tutus for Ykaie and my other nieces since last year. I finally bought different colors of tulles for 20 pesos/yard. I was able to use 2 yards for this tutu. Here's How I made it.

I chose lavender and lime green color combo for this one.

I measured Ykaie's waist then cut the elastic and hand sewn the ends to form a waistband. You can also use elastic headbands for this.

I measured how long I want the tutu and doubled it. You have to double the length measured because you are going to fold each strip into half when tying onto the waistband.

I folded the tulle in half, then folded in half again. I just kept folding. It's easier to cut strips this way. It's up to you how wide you want the strips to be.

I tied each strip onto the waistband using Cow hitch knot. Just check out the site for clear illustrations of tying a cow hitch knot. I just kept on tying all the way around.

Here's the finished product!

And here's Ykaie wearing her first tutu.

Mom of four:
Naku subukan mo gumawa.

i used to make dresses din for myself and for my dolls. now pati computer ko, may damit din. nagmana ako sa mommy ko na magaling din manahi ng kung anik-anik. ang galing, gagawa din ako ng tutu para sa sarili ko at mga friends. mas ok kung maghohold ako ng "tutu" party at lahat kami naka-tutu. tutu pala ang tawag sa ballet skirt? ngayon ko lang nalaman.

anyway, thank yuo for dropping by my blog.
